Shopping spree

Xuan has my shopping spree done for school last weekend.

See my pinky Minnie Mouse school bag and Dora water bottle!

Mummy and papa realised that Xuan has a collection of Dora items at home now. Dora utensils and plate, Dora Cros shoe, Dora DVD, Dora Tee and now Dora water bottle. :)

We went hunting and trying for a pair of girly shoe for me but we didn’t manage to find any pretty ones. Xuan will continue to shop.. shop…

Enjoying learning in my way

Mummy and Xuan enjoy learning through our daily chat and play! Be in sloughing at the sofa, sitting on bed… we always make it comfortable and relaxing. The conventional way of learning by sitting down on chair and around a table before lots of book is definitely outdated for us. :p

Counting

Mummy is happy to share that Xuan has learnt how to count! From 2 items to 3 items last night.

Mummy and Xuan were reading last night and mummy was causally pointing to a picture of 3 balls and to mummy’s surprise, Xuan said,”mummy, I like the 3 balls!”
Xuan did not use her magic pointer to count! Xuan knew that there are 3 balls by looking at it. Kids’ mental photograhic counting? Mummy wasn’t sure. In any case, mummy is thrilled.

Xuan is watching Richard Scarly Best Counting Video best ever currently and mummy thinks that the VCD has done its fair part.

Day of the week
Xuan has a magnetic board with day of the week and mini magnets of stars and animals to complete.

Last Monday, Xuan sang the “Day of the week” song as she arranged the magnets.
“Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday……Saturday” Another surprise for mummy! Although Xuan tends to miss out Thursday and Sunday, mummy thought that it is already great cos we only sing and humm the song once in a while.

This magnetic board is also great for learning how to count. E.g Mummy will ask for 2or 3 stars from Xuan to paste on the row of Monday and Xuan will happily look for them and pass to mummy. Xuan has so far got everything correct. Mummy is still learning from the internet for more interesting ideas and games to learn math and numbers with Xuan!

What is the time now?
Xuan: Mummy, our clock has no numbers.
(we read the time by the stroke on the clock)
Mummy: Xuan wants to see the number on the clock and read the time?
Xuan: Ya mummy..
Mummy: Shall we go and buy a clock with number for Xuan?
Xuan: yes!!!!

New shopping agenda for this weekend: A number clock!! 

Really Sweet moment :)

Xuan was looking at cake phamplets when she striked this conversation.

Xuan: mummy, when is your birthday?
Mummy: In the month of October
Xuan: mummy, what cake do you want? Minnie mouse? Pooh bear? I buy for you. I have balloons, candles, birthday hats…
Xuan: Papa, what cake do you want? Pooh bear cake for you okie! Racing car cake for boy.. car cake for didi!

2 late owls every nights..

Xuan has been going to bed later and later into the night.

Xuan used to have my story time around 9.45pm to 10pm and by latest 10.30pm, lights will be out. Xuan will be dreamland by 10.45pm to 11pm after some tossing, turning and chit chatting with mummy. By the way, Xuan has been sleeping in my own bedroom since 25 months old.

In recent weeks, things have taken for a change. My story time is now around 10pm to 10.15pm after family time with didi, mummy and papa. Beside reading, Xuan wants more activities now. Xuan will have jigsaw puzzles, colouring time etc. Mummy has various themes periodically to entice Xuan’s attention. So far, Xuan has learnt about the different occupations, animals, places we frequent, action words, expressions, fruits and vegetables, .. etc.. According to mummy, she is going to introduce some memory games after she has prepared the materials. Mummy has read about some photographic memory games from another mummy's blog and find it interesting. Fun and yet able to train memory skill.

Engrossed in my puzzle

With so many activities in mind, Xuan has been stretching the story time span about 30 minutes to 1 hr. I sure know how to deploy my tactics by pleading hard and earnestly. Hahaha.. By then, it is usually already 11.30pm when mummy finally insisted on bed time. Xuan will eventually fall asleep close to 12am!!! Mummy is completely tire out. In any case, mummy and papa said that getting to bed so late is not healthy for me. Papa exclaimed that mummy is getting too soft on my plead. :p

On the other hand, mummy acknowledged that Xuan has grown up and naturally wants more times for reading and other activities. Mummy is glad that Xuan enjoys reading and is glad that her effort every night since Xuan was young has paid off. Mummy said that didi will join us when he is older.

However, mummy is going to gradually change Xuan’s sleeping pattern from this weekend cos Xuan is officially going to school next month. Mummy said that she is going to enforce bed time by latest 10.30pm so that Xuan will have sufficient sleep to wake up chirpy for class the next day. So all adjustments have to be made in days to come. 1st of all, story time will have to brought forward so that Xuan will have no excuse to keep stretching the time. Hehehe..

YES u heard it! Xuan is going school officially! More interesting update to come… 1st of all.. shopping time again.. school bag, new water bottle… hehehe..

Xuan went for a mini orientation and uniform fittings in my new school last week.

Diaper free through the long night

Xuan has been showing sign of readiness for night time toilet train recently. Xuan has been waking up in the middle of the night for the past 2 nights consecutively on Tuesday and wednesday, telling mummy that I want to wee wee. In fact, Xuan has been waking up on some night every now and then over the past 2 weeks for toilet. Isn't that worth applauding!?

Mummy has not really started night time toilet training as recommended by some of mummy’s friends, i.e. waking me up in the middle of the night for wee wee. Mummy feels that it is too disruptive to wake me from my princess’s sleep. So mummy prefers to leave the night time toilet training till a later stage when I can exercise more self initiative. So diapers at night if needed at the moment.

What mummy been doing was to tell Xuan just before bed time that Xuan shall not put on diaper for that night. Xuan have to go potty just before sleep and Xuan will wake mummy up when she wants to wee wee again later in the night. Just last night, mummy decided not to put on diaper for me since I have managed to self initiate to wake up for wee wee for the last 2 consecutive nights (not wanting to waste my effort) but I wet my bed last night.. opps… accident! Hahaha…

Well.. mummy knows that there is bound to be accidents now and then before success! Xuan will try harder and mummy will continue to give me her utmost night time support. More disruptive and lesser beauty sleep for mummy again. Mummy lamented..”well.. I am the mummy.”

My new shoe

Hi Xuan is back!

Xuan has not written for about 2 weekends cos mummy has been really busy and tired that she could not manage to stay up later at night to help me write. Tonight, mummy is determined to keep her eyes open!

Xuan has been happily going for “shoes shopping” for the past 2 weekends. Mummy and papa feel that the varieties of children’s shoes collections in Singapore are really quite limited. Not much choice in term of comfort (1st priority), design and of course reasonable pricing.

Xuan’s feets grow very fast. I need to change new shoes almost every 6 months since I was a baby. Last weekend, I finally found my Cros “Disney series collection”! It is really not easy to locate cos most Cros outlets don’t carry Disney series except IMM outlet. Mummy would actually prefer to get me a more girlish shoe and have been coaxing and sounding me out but Xuan is a die-hard fan of Cros shoe for the moment! Hehehe..

My new pinkish Cros shoe! Can you see Dora?
Xuan insisted of getting Dora at the Cros shop.

My 1st Pooh bear and tigee Cros shoes from da jiujiu and ah kim!

ps: Mummy is still shopping for 1 more pair of shoe for me ..,a more girlish one for me when I wear dress. Hehehe…that is a privilege for a girl.. different shoe for different outfit… hehehe..
