Don't grow old

Xuan: Next time, when I grow up and become a mummy, how will you be?
Mummy: When you grow up and become a mummy, I will be old then. I will have white hair….
Xuan: HUH! My goodness.. then how? I dun grow up.. then you dun grow old ok!
Mummy: haha… it is like that. Xuan grows up, mummy will grow old. Will you stay with me and take care of me?
Xuan: YES YES! We all stay together ok.
Mummy: You will take care of me ok.
Xuan: I am still so small.. I dun know how to… I ask papa to take care of you… (and off calling for papa to convey this important message!)

Idle Sunday afternoon

Mummy admitted that she has been a bit laid back recently and didn’t have much time and spare brain cell to think of interesting arts and crafts activities. So we decided that we will just stick to Play Dough Time for the moment.

I am making a fish ball.

How can we miss didi?! hehe..

Thereafter, it was painting time. Mummy noted that Xuan has developed more patience and effort in her painting. After a break from painting for about 1 month, Xuan has shown more maturity in her work. She is also careful not to mix up the colour in the palette.

Xuan is always so serious at painting.. hummm...

See the clean defined shape that i have painted.

Didi is here! Didi is more capable of scribbling and creating artistic art piece now. hahaha..

Where is papa? At the carpark washing car..
hehehe...

frog again..

Mummy received the weekly lesson communication email from teacher yesterday and got a little surprise!

Ms Yee is going to allow Xuan and friends to take turn to bring the classroom frog home to take care over the next few weeks. Interested mummies and daddies are to inform Ms Yee. hahaah.... how interesting and CHALLENGING! REAL frog! Both mummy and papa are not too prepared to take care of a real frog... haha... papa said, "how to take care? What are we going to feed the frog? Catch mosquitoes and feed??!!" hahahaha....Xuan was of course being consulted too.

Mummy: Do you want to bring the frog home?
Xuan: Yes!
Mummy: Really?? Do you know how to take care of the frog? real frog!
Xuan: No no... i just want to bring home the fake frog that is hanging in the class..
Mummy: hahahaha... So who fed the classroom frog?
Xuan: We take turn to feed the frog with worms! I used a chopstick and pick up a worm. Ms Yee opened a little gap and I feed the frog! I am brave right! **giggle**
Mummy: hahaha.. yes yes!

This week Science Discovery topic is about chicken and hatching eggs process. Xuan will also learn about the different poultry and eggs, source of nutrition and the food pyramid.

All about frog

Following the play that the children watched last Friday, the science discovery topic for the following week is “getting to know about frog growth cycle”.

According to Xuan, teacher has bought a small green frog and kept in a container in the Science Discovery corner of the class. To prevent the frog from jumping out, teacher has even bought a small LOCK(!!) to lock it in. (hahaha….) Through this topic, Xuan got to know about the growth cycle of the frog, from an egg to a tadpole to froglet and finally to a big frog! Xuan learned that frogs have webbed feet and their favourite food is flies. Xuan also told mummy that teacher has poked many holes on the film covering the container where the frog was kept. Xuan later learned that these holes are made so that there is air movement and enough ventilation for the frog.

This is the first few day of the growth stage of the frog from an egg drawn by Xuan..

Our little Kai didi only get to learn about frogs too. Kai learns about a song about frogs and enjoys listening mummy and jiejie singing it. Kai also learns that frogs eat flies and say, “ribbit ribbit!”

Last week was planting onion exercise. Every one of us has an onion that we need to water and take care everyday in school. Xuan enjoys the exercise as she came back home telling mummy about her watering exercise and that the onion’s roots are getting longer and longer everyday and that she must wait for the shoots to grow out before she can bring home to show us. :)

1st excursion for 2011

Xuan was back at Recital Studio @ esplanade with my teachers, friends and of course mummy again last week. :) This is Xuan's 3rd time to esplanade to show children play and Xuan is already very familiar with the settings.

We went to watch Todd, The Big Green Frog.

We like Recital Studio cos it is a floor sitting auditorium. It is comfortable for children and allows close interaction with the performing crews. As it is a story on frog, we were all given a lily pad to sit on before entering. Although it is a 45 minutes play, we did not feel it as Xuan and friends enjoyed and were engrossed in the play. It doesn’t feel like 45 minutes has passed.

After the play, instead of following my teachers and friends back to school, mummy decided to bring Xuan out for a lunch date since mummy is on leave. We went to have crepe for lunch and of course ice-cream for my desert.

My class!

Xuan happily indulging in the titbit that mummy has prepared. We bought a box and Xuan was very happy and eager to distribute them to my good friends after the play!

Cheers! I like ice water!

My favourite chocolate flavour ice cream!

Cheeky Xuan giving mummy a cheeky face on seeing the camera.

Hong Kong Disneyland 2010 Part III

Xuan and didi woke up early on the first morning! And needless to say, when we were awake, mummy and papa had to be awake too. We went for breakfast in the hotel lobby before making our way to take the Disneyland shuttle bus that runs from the Park to hotel in short interval (3 minutes) throughout the day.

We were a bit early and Disneyland was not open yet. But there were already a lot of people outside the gate, queuing under the morning sun! Thinking that the weather may be a bit cooling, we were armed with a jacket each. But it was so sunny and the sun ray was so glaring. So all the jackets were left in the stroller within the next 2 hrs.

Xuan was excited as we matched into Disneyland. Xuan has her own annual pass and she asked to hold her own pass at the entrance for verification. We guessed she felt like a big girl! Hahahaa..As didi is less than 2 years old, it is free entry. (Hoorray!!)

Unlike the last trip when Xuan was still young and was not too aware of what was happening, Xuan knows all the Disney characters and enjoys all the rides this time round. And of course, when it comes to shopping, Xuan has her says and knows what she wants too! Almost everything is nice and everything is needed! Hahaha..

Xuan has always not been very open to mascots. Although the fear has subsided over the months after our visit to Universal Studio, Xuan still didn’t quite like certain mascots. Xuan’s favourite mascots in Disneyland are Minnie Mouse and of course all the princesses like Snow White, Cinderalla and Alice in the Wonderland. Xuan’s most fearful mascot is chipmunks. Xuan hid in papa’s shoulders and simply refused to look up no matter how the Disney crew and us tried to distract and coax her. :p Xuan said, “I only like the man mascot. I don’t like the animal mascots. The man mascot in costume is nice. I like Alice in the Wonderland. We don’t take pictures with the animals mascots anymore ok.” Hahaha..

Xuan also took numerous rides like the merry go round, the spinning saucer, flying jumbo elephants, the train ride round disney, boat ride around the Snow City, …. We took all them more than once. Didi backed out the last minute before the merry go round started and demanded to come down from the horse (perhaps he got impatient with the wait). To avoid delaying the whole group of people, mummy quickly held didi tight before making her way up the high horse while papa stood beside us, and be our photographer. Hehehe..

Xuan liked the spinning saucer too! We still remember that Xuan went twice when we were at Universal Studio. This ride is definitely not for those who has motion sickness. Papa went twice with Xuan. Xuan enjoyed the spinning effect and ran down from the saucer happily when it stopped. No after spinning effect at all. Hahaha.. Didi did not go for this ride as he is too young for it. When Kai didi saw us in the saucer from outside the ring, he cried and cried, demanding to join in the ride! Opps..

Beside taking rides, another highlight of visiting Disneyland is taking pictures with Disney mascots. How can this be missed in Disneyland?! However, patience is really needed. Queue and queue. We were lucky at times when we caught view of the mascot early while the queue was manageable short. Otherwise, we would have to wait cos some of the visitors took one individual picture after picture before taking one final group picture! So you can imagine a group of 4 people taking 4 individual shots before 1 group shot!!!! This can be a challenge for us with our young active didi who can’t stand at a spot to wait for long. So for long queue, papa and Xuan will do the job of queuing at times while mummy accompanied didi to venture nearby while keeping watch of the queue and return back when it was our turn. This is so unlike Spore Universal Studio where the crew specifically allows 1 or at most 2 shots per group and so, the queue can move faster and more people could get a chance to catch a shot. I guess, this is Spore where everything and everyone is so used to being fast and efficient.

Model for umbrella advertisment.. hehe

Xuan still adores and loves umbrella as much.

Here is Xuan with her favourite Minnie Mourse umbrella. Now she brings it out with her every weekend. Although we can walk in the shade to carpark, papa will walk with Xuan on another path where there is sunlight so that Xuan can open her umbrella. Sometimes, she carries it at home and pretends that is raining. hehe..
