Doing up our room again

We have a new look to our room again!

It is so much organised, so much spacious after the new orientation and layout.

Xuan has grown up. She is our tall girl. Standing at about 130cm tall, Xuan is taller than most of her peers of her age. And so, her pinky toddler table is getting way too low for her. We need new table! We need to get proper writing table for Xuan who is going primary 1 in a few months time. :) We decided to get a similar set for our fast growing up didi too! :D

And so before we eventually bought the tables and chairs, we went to rackie, took measurement, and back home for some floor planning. Papa went back to get the tables, chairs that we have chosen while we got busy cleaning the room, shifting the beds and moving the extras out of the bedroom! :D

Papa remarked how much the bedroom has changed over the short 5 years+. From an initial empty room to Xuan’s bedroom cum playroom to now Xuan and Kai’s shared bedroom and playroom cum study room. Yes, it is now a multi-purpose room! We have our beds at one section of the room, toys at the other end of the room and a row of new writing tables by the window. :D

We love how our room looks like now!
We love how LOVE and LAUGHTERS fill this room which was once empty and quiet.

Us @ Ikea buying our chairs for our new desks. :)

I can still fit into the big trolley at Ikea!

Didi and his sunny smile. He was so happy going down the travellator in the trolley.

Celebrating International Frienship Day in school

Sometime back in April, we celebrated International Friendship Day in school in school.

Xuan and didi worn red and white tops and bottoms and even have Spore flag tattoos on our hands and arms. Hello from Singapore! :D

In school, we learnt about the different countries and the different greetings of other languages in other countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea etc. We also made friendship bracelets using elastic strings and beads and exchange with our friends. :D

Telling time

Since end of term 2, Xuan has started on lessons on telling time in school. Xuan was able to master telling time accurately using quarter to, quarter past and half past very fast by end of term 2. Thereafter, the teacher moved on to teach the children 5 time table, hoping to move on hour and minutes. Xuan wasn't able to memorise 5 time table well though.

However, we are glad that things took a positive change with this new math materials bought from Growing Fun. :) Mommy showed Xuan the concept of time table using it and Xuan got it instantly! To allow Xuan to "catch" the concept, Xuan has to hands-on work on the materials by placing the 5 units bar on the scale. Every bar she adds, she sees the results. And to our pleasant surprise, Xuan mastered 5 time table up 5 x 5 in 10 minutes, well memorised in her mind. We have since moved on up to 8 x 5.

Now, Xuan is able to read time in hours and minutes more confidently up to 30 minutes. She has also just learnt from class lessons on the concept of 1 hour later, 2 hours ago and read the time from thereon.

We believe that with more daily hands-on practise of telling time, Xuan should be able to read time even more confidently by December before she embarks on her primary school learning journey. Although time is not examinable until term 4 of P1, it is definitely a handy skill to have before she starts P1.

Xuan also uses the materials for other creative play...

Little photographer

Sometimes ago, Papa brought Xuan for a walk around the neighbourhood, both equipped with their own cameras. ;)

Another evening walk..

Sometimes ago, we went for a nice evening walk at the esplanade.

Most of the pictures didn't come out sharp due to lighting...

Beautiful..

Didi was not interested in the photo taking then. :p

A pretty shot of Xuan and papa!

We are best siblings!

Finally a picture of very clear shot of didi in it! yeay!

Zoo

During the June holiday, we visited the Zoo again. :)

This is the 2nd visit of the year. At the 1st visit, it rained heavily unexpectedly after lunch and we left shortly in our raincoats after less than 2 hours walk. This time round, we went armed with raincoats too. It turned out that that Sunday was a sunny day with the hot hot sun glaring at us throughout the day! Nevertheless, we were armed with hats too! Hahaha.. To beat the heat, we had lots of water, cold fresh milk from KFC, Ben & Jerry ice cream.... :)

We had a very good sleep and woke up late, set off late and only reached the Zoo at 11am! Hahaha… We decided to have our lunch at the KFC before making our way in as the Ah Meng restaurant is forever packed.

We had a good leisure walk round the Zoo this time round. Xuan and didi asked to take the tram and we went for many rounds around the Zoo to rest our legs. We also managed to squeeze through the crowd to catch the last elephant show.

At the children world, Xuan went for 2 rounds at the carousel while didi wasn’t keen at all. In fact, he was frightened. :p However, didi enjoyed getting close to the goats and horses at the children animals world. He picked up many leaves from the ground to feed the goats. On the other hands, Xuan was scared and backed away when the goats’ mouth came close to her hands. However, Xuan was enthusiastically picking up leaves for didi to do the feeding. Hahaha..

We eventually left the zoo at 430pm with our tired legs and both Kai and jiejie fell asleep on the drive home.

On our way to the Zoo!!

Xuan studying the map and telling mommy where to walk.. :)

At the White Tiger's stop..

Where is the hippo??

Kai and jiejie's first time watching an elephant show!

Us with the Kangeroo...

Happily waiting for the tram arrival..

On the tram.. :)

Didi don't like this corner cos he complained of smelly poo... hahaha

We caught sight of the elephant while eating ice-cream at the tram station!

Didi enjoy the feeding very much but not me! Xuan is scared of stretching out her hands to the goat's mouth.

The goats kept coming back to didi for more and more.... wahahha...

Although I dare not feed, I helped didi to find more feeds.. hahaha

I am finally on the carousel. :D

hot.. hot...

Oh... save some for me! hahaha.
