Halloween 2010

What Halloween celebration? It has never came across mummy and papa’s mind to do anything for this festival as it is simply not our culture. However, with the international nationalities mix of children in Xuan’s school, we are “in” for this celebration now too! Haha..

Mummy was excited when she read from the September newsletter from school that there will be Halloween dress-up party in school on Oct 29. Last year, mummy missed the notification and this year, mummy ensured that it will not happen again. Soon, weeks leading up to the dress-up party, mummy went round shopping and browsing for interesting outfits. Mummy and papa were thinking of renting costume so that we will not have to create storage space after the party. Afterall, it is going to be just a one-time wear. However, a quick surf in the net show that it is actually more worth it to buy one instead. Fortunately, we have an accountant/auditor mummy. Hahaha..

The first outfit mummy bought. A mermaid!

A cute mermaid! haha

Do I look nice? :)

Mummy and Xuan loved this outfit. Xuan looks so lovely and cute in it, isn’t it? However, it is a bit tight and there is no bigger size available. Xuan will not be able to run and play game comfortably in school. So after much pondering, papa asked mummy to exchange for another outfit.

Oh yes.. just a 1-time wear and for this reason, mummy and papa didn’t want to spent too much money. We hope to achieve a pretty look with a reasonable spending. And finally, one fine day lunch time, mummy spotted tutu skirt, fairy wings… and mummy thought, “A princess fairy!”

When we reached school last Friday, mummy and papa were stunned to see how fancyful many of my friends are dressed. There were superman, spiderman, skeleton men, transformers, doctor, cinderalla, sailor girl.. how pretty and colourful! One interesting observation.. The foreigners are more elaborately dressed while the locals have lesser details. haha..

So last Friday, Xuan came home with a “treat or trick” box recycled from a tissue box (NICE!). It has lots of treats (sweets) in it. According to Xuan, they have to go round asking for “treats” from friends from all classes. It must have been fun. At least, Xuan and didi were busy sorting and choosing which one to eat. So you see, didi got the treat too! Beside the treat or trick box, there is also a nicely painted pumpkin mask and a shiny spider.

Next year, when didi joins my school, it will definitely be more fun!

Here I am..
