Holiday has started!
Xuan and didi had much fun for the 1st 2 weeks of holiday at the holiday programme in school. :D
Xuan and didi like the S&D teacher very much and claimed that he is funniest teacher in the world. Well, mummy understands after having a chance to meet him once in school. He is very dramatic and exagerrating in expression and tone when he wants. No wonder all the children like him so much.
Mummy thought that it is a good idea to sign up the holiday programme for Xuan and didi so that both of us would not be bored at home while ah ma can have some time in the morning to take a break. It is not easy to look after us, keep us occupied, cook and wash for the entire 4 weeks of holiday. hahahaha..

I am the beautiful mermaid while didi is the kind shark!

Here come the Super Heroes!

We in action!
After the 1st week of exagerating fun at drama, we continued our english camp with the animal theme. Every day, Xuan and didi learned about an animal. About their young, habitat, food, environment... We did crafts, drawings, and worksheets on the facts of the animal world.
While we were suppose to continue with the 3rd week of arts and crafts camp, some of our friends came down with chicken pox and the principal decided to cut short the holiday programme to contain the spread.
Nevertheless, we have fun for 2 weeks! ;D

Update on K2
Mommy finds that Singapore children in K2 is really quite "ke lian". They need to learn so many things before they enter primary 1.
Since term 1, Xuan has been having weekly spelling and thanks goodness, Xuan has gotten full mark every week. From the spelling list, Xuan is able to write simple sentences now. She has also learned quite a lot of grammar rules. Spelling, comprehension, vocabularly, grammar is a must acquired skill before entering primary school now. Thankfully, Xuan is able to read independently now. But she is not too confident to write short sentences to make a short story though.
For Chinese, Xuan has started her exposure to Han Yu Pin Yin since Term 1. So far, she seems doing alright. Soon in term 3, she will start her Chinese spelling. For the moment, the teacher does impromptu spelling with the children as a revision without a formal list given to parents. Together with berries, we hope it will be a smooth transition. According to the Chinese teacher during the meet parent session, Xuan is doing well and should not have a problem transiting to P1.
Math is another big area. Numberacy skill don’t come as naturally as language to Xuan although I must say Xuan has shown vast improvement. And because her previous preschool who adopted a very relaxed australian learning style has not even moved to addition, subtraction at K1, Xuan has quite a lot to catch up even though she attended a term of Montessori math to prepare her for this current preschool. Her exposure to addition is purely from coaching at home then.
However, it can be tough to ask her to do it again and again when the subject is obviously not her favourite.
While Xuan can read independently and can do most math questions, we need to work on her concentration level. Her ability to focus and finish work timely is not consistent as yet. Sometimes, she can finish very well and even 1st in class, at times, she dudn't manage to complete. Mummy believes that this has to do with a lot self discipline and self motivation. While she can focus very well on her favorite activities (reading, art and crafts..), her attention focus drifted at times when doing serious homework.
We hope that as Xuan reaches 6 years old and with continuous effort on reminding, encouraging and maybe rewards at times(no choice) will see results. :D
Xuan can do it! Jia you!

Reading pleasure
Mummy was on leave for 2 days last month to study for exam. An agreement was reached with Xuan and didi that mummy had to study and both Xuan and didi were to allow mummy to study with minimal disruption. Otherwise, mummy would have to seek alternative study place, out of home.
So while Kai was taking his afternoon nap, Xuan stayed beside mummy who was trying to get as much facts into her head. Xuan took out a stack of story books and she finished them one by one. To mummy surprise , she finished one of the 70 pages story book in an hour. :D Ah ma told mummy Xuan will always read everyday after finishing her television show.
Thereafter, mummy decided to take a break and read a book together with Xuan. It is a conversational kind of book where it is in all dialogue format. Xuan and mummy assumed a role each and we finished that book swiftly in 10 minutes. :D Xuan told mummy that she has read that book once by herself and I’m really glad to know that Xuan has understood the story line correctly.
Xuan is picking up Enid blyton books up to read recently.. :)
Celebrating papa's birthday
Happy Birthday to papa on the 19 May!
Pictures tell all who are the most excited and happiest of all! hahaha..

Birthday papa's bundle of joys

Kai is too excited to want to sit on papa's lap...

Why 2 candles? Jus in case 1 complains of another blowing off without waiting for him/her..

2 very excited assistants to cut the cake.

May staycation
May is a celebratory month for us cos papa birthday, papa and mommy ROM’s date and wedding date all fall in the month of May. :D
To celebrate the happy month of May, we went to Marriott Hotel last weekend for a short staycation. Marriott Hotel is a special place cos it is where papa and mommy toast to hundreds of friends and relatives for their reunion 7 years back. Mommy said that going back to Marriott brings back lots of fond memories. The beautiful gowns. The younger, slimmer and radiant mommy. Hahaha…
Very coincidentally, our room is on the 19th floor.
19 = papa’s birthday and papa and mommy’s ROM date.
We had a very relax 2 days at the hotel. We did nothing except eating, watching tv, lying on the bed and taking a walk along Orchard Road at night. After we have fallen asleep, mommy and papa started their snack time!
Xuan and didi enjoyed very much and have asked to go back for hotel stay once more again.. hahahaha..
It was 2 persons 7 years ago. Now we go back in a family of 4. What a joyful achievement!

Our spacious room.

Papa with happy Kai

Mummy with cheeky dear Kai

Mummy with dear Xuan

Sunny Kai!

The bed is so comfy!

Happy 4 of us!
