A little present that Xuan earned by herself

Xuan proudly show mommy the present that she earned from school today.


It is the Monday assembly day. Xuan went up the stage to answer a question correctly and here is her reward.

We are soon approaching end of term 1 in 2 weeks times! Xuan has settled down in school. We see so much work brought back from school every fortnightly for parents' perusal and signature. Mental sum exercise, mini asssessments, spelling, ting xie, worksheets.... and yes, we saw careless mistakes and uncompleted pages. On the other hands, we also see efforts, improvement in handwriting, neatiness etc. With constant reminders, encouragement, praises and rewards (when deserved and needed for motivation), we hope to see Xuan better results, better motivation and discipline.

Last week, we went to the school for a Parents' workshop on Holistic assessments and the parents are given an opportunity to go to the classroom to sit-through a lesson. We saw Xuan participating actively by raising her hands numerous times and are heartened. We saw a few pieces of her work pin-up on the classroom walls too. We are glad to see her enjoying school.

Being in a much bigger environment now, Xuan has to learn to deal with a lot of social interaction challenges with friends etc. In the past, pre-school teachers are always so near to solve whatever unresolved situations. Now, teachers may not even be aware of any conflicts and disagreements between the children. Xuan has her fair share of complaints about her friends now and then. Mommy listens to Xuan's little stories everyday, no matter how trival so that I can know about her friends, her teachers and correct her when needed and of course, praise her when she deserved!
